Data from old CIP

Where are my files?

Assuming your username is ab01cdef, your old data is stored in the following directory:

/cip/homes_before_2023/ab/ab01/ab01cdef

Via the terminal you can either navigate directly via the path to your old CIP home or simply with cd $OLDHOME. If you want to open a graphical file explorer, you can execute thunar $OLDHOME in your terminal and a window with your old home directory will open.

What can I do with the old home?

Since we have to shut down the old fileserver in the near future, the old CIP-home is read-only. So you can’t edit/execute your files there but have to copy them into the new directories first. Note that the new RRZE-LINUX home is only 2 GB (10 GB for employees), so only copy what you really need. If you need more space, you can also use the data directory. How you can access this directory, is explained here.
